KERN PHARMA, one of the leading pharmaceutical groups in Spain and a market leader in generic drug manufacturing, has partnered with OYTEC to digitalize its industrial operations.
As part of its Digital Transformation strategy, KERN PHARMA aims to optimize and enhance plant operations by focusing on the digitalization of its Manufacturing Batch Records. This initiative will replace all paper-based Master Batch Records (MBR) with Electronic Batch Records (eBR), covering all weighing and dispensing operations. The system will be fully integrated with SAP ERP and plant automation systems to ensure seamless data flow and operational efficiency.
The project initially covers the digitalization of KERN PHARMA’s main plant in Terrassa, with the potential for future expansion across other sites within the group. The key drivers behind this digital initiative are to eliminate inefficiencies associated with paper-based processes, reduce the risk of human error, and leverage cutting-edge technology as a catalyst for industrial transformation.
By implementing Electronic Batch Records, KERN PHARMA expects not only to eliminate paper from the production process but also to achieve significant improvements in operational integrity, deviation reduction, and batch record review times. Data from other industry leaders who have adopted eBR solutions demonstrate quantifiable and consistent benefits:
- Up to a 98% reduction in batch record deviations and investigations.
- Over 75% decrease in batch record review times thanks to Real-Time Review-by-Exception.
- 75% reduction in data entry time.
